BELGRADE
Belgrade is the capital and largest city of Serbia. It is located at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers. The urban area of the City of Belgrade has a population of 1.23 million, while nearly 1.7 million people live within its administrative limits.
CURRENCY
The dinar is the official currency of Serbia and it is symbolized by a “RSD”. Exchange rate is approximately 120 RSD per 1 EUR.
Banknotes are established in 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000, 2000 and 5000 din.
TRANSPORTATION
Air travel
Serbia has two airports. Belgrade “Nikola Tesla” Airport is the largest airport in Serbia, situated 18 km west of downtown Belgrade near the suburb of Surčin. The second-largest airport in Serbia is “Constantine the Great” Airport ат the south of Serbia located 4 km northwest of downtown Niš in the suburbs of Medoševac and Popovac.
If you arrive in Belgrade by air, public transport will get you quickly and cheaply into central Belgrade:
- А1 Mini bus. Route: Airport – Slavija Square (Kralja Milutina Street) – Airport. Ticket price: RSD 300 (on the bus). Approximate travel time: 30 minutes;
- Public Transportation Line 72. Route: Airport-Zeleni venac Square. Ticket price – RSD 89 (if purchased on the kiosk – Bus Plus), RSD 150 (if purchased on the bus). Approximate travel time: 30‒40 minutes;
- Public Transportation Line 607. Route: Surčin – New Belgrade. Ticket price: RSD 89 (if purchased on the kiosk – Bus Plus), RSD150 (if purchased on the bus). Approximate travel time: 30 minutes.
- There are Rent-a-car offices at Nikola Tesla Airport. City service TAXI INFO is located in the baggage claim area at Nikola Tesla Airport. It is advisable to take taxi receipt at the airport Info Desk specifying the desired destination and the price for the taxi service.
Train Travel
The country’s railway hub is in Belgrade. Beograd Centar – Prokop is the main station. It has an international ticket office, open 24/7. Public transportation from/to the station: lines 34, 36, 38A, nearby: 40, 41.
Public transportation
Ticket for the Bus Plus system can be bought at kiosks. It is valid in trams, buses or trolleys (not in mini buses). One 90 minute journey costs 89 RSD. An empty card must be purchased (it costs 250 RSD), and then the desired amount of money can be placed on it. There is 100 RSD bonus if 1000 RSD is bought. When entering the vehicle (any of the doors can be used), the Bus Plus card must be hold against the reader until it is verified.
VISA AND ENTRY
Passports must be valid for at least 90 days from issue date of visa. For more information regarding the issuance of visa, please contact the nearest diplomatic-consular mission of the Republic of Serbia.

In Serbia the standard voltage is 230 V and the frequency is 50 Hz. You can use your electric appliances in Serbia, if the standard voltage in your country is in between 220-240 V (as is in the UK, Europe, Australia and most of Asia and Africa).
